The NorthGate Soda Shop

This is Jim DeYoung's Northgate Soda Shop at 918 North Main Street. This old drug store is filled with Greenville history, wise tales, and old farts. There's a laundry next door if you need to drop off yours while you eat in the soda shop.
A small pub is part of the soda shop. Separated only by a doorway, it's called "
The Other Side."

Oh, by the way, the soda shop is a favorite relief spot for the city police, so if you visit The Other Side, sit up straight and look alive.
The Other Side is a little hangout for the soda shop regulars (the old farts), but the welcome mat is always out for whomever the cat might drag in. After a day of sittin' around the soda shop, they can walk across the room and rest themselves for a while over a cold beer or whatever, before heading home to put on FoxNews and lay on the sofa until it's time to do it all over again. I might be teasing them a little on that last part. Seriously, stop in sometime and see all the memorabilia. Good people.
