This photo taken the evening before the big unveiling ceremony. Skies were overcast and showers were possible on the morning of the dedication. The statue, still under wraps and guarded by a police officer through the night, faces to the west side of Greenville in the direction of the Shoeless Joe Jackson Memorial Ballpark. The sculpture stands lifesize on its base, with a fountain and "wishing well" construction, as shown here. The circular brick wall is made of bricks from Comiskey Park, Chicago. The statue stands outside the WestEnd Market on South Main Street, where South Main, Pendleton and Augusta Streets meet in Greenville's Historic West End.
