The Poinsett Hotel

Top photo: The Poinsett Plaza. Rear view of the Poinsett Plaza building, from top of the parking garage. The parking lights were on at high noon and nobody used the top two levels, but that changed after October's Westin Poinsett Hotel opened.

Middle photo: View of the Poinsett Hotel's courtyard, at the old Sugar 'n Spice Coffee Shop entrance. This photo was taken in April 1999.

Bottom photo: Trolley car rails. Work crews digging away layers of concrete and asphalt discovered early 1900s trolley car rails on Main Street. The work was in preparation for redevelopment of Main Street at Court Street, in front of the Westin Poinsett Hotel project. The area used to be the center of city life around the turn of the century. This photo taken April 2000.
